First “Stipulated” 18 Hole Round

On Saturday, March 20th, I played my first “stipulated” alternate hole round at Gypsy Hill. Unlike my prior 18 hole round, there was no snow on the course, so I was able to play all 18 holes straight through. I played the odd holes lefty, and the even holes righty.

I shot a 90, and overall I was pretty satisfied with how I played. The odd holes, which I played lefty, add up to a par of 37, and the even holes add up to a par of 34. I was 13 over for the lefty holes, and 6 over for the righty holes. As compared to prior round, I was two shots worse from the right side, and six shots better from the left side.

Comparing the lefty holes in this round to the prior round at Gypsy Hill, here’s how things changed:

ScoreRound 1Round 2
Triple Bogey31
Double Bogey43
Bogey24
Par1

One thing that I’ve noticed playing this round is that I had no sense of what the score was like while I was playing. When playing right handed, my scoring is usually pretty steady – about evenly split between pars and bogeys. That make it easy to keep track of my score without even really thinking about it. However, my lefty scores are all over the place. I really have no idea where I stand until after adding things up at the end.
